Bracknell Night Shelter

Bracknell Night Shelter

1st Dec 2018
– March 2019

The Night Shelter will run from December until the end of March during the coldest time of the year. It provides a warm, safe and comfortable place for people who would otherwise be out on the streets sleeping rough.

The Night Shelter is being coordinated by the Pilgrim Hearts.

For more information see their website

Each Church has a co-ordinator who heads up a team of volunteers who operate in 3 shifts:

  • the first group welcomes, books in and serves an evening meal
  • the second group remains while the guests sleep and
  • the third group prepares breakfast and closes down after breakfast, when the guests leave.

Our night for hosting guests in 2017-2018 is Sunday.

If you would like to volunteer as a helper at the Night Shelter in 2017-2018 please contact Theresa McDougall through the Parish Office.

A Prayer for the Poor and the Neglected

Almighty and most merciful God,
we remember before you all poor and neglected
persons whom it would be easy for us to forget,
the homeless and the destitute,
the old and the sick,
and all who have none to care for them.
Help us to heal those who are broken in body or spirit,
and to turn their sorrow to joy.
Grant this, Father, for the love of your Son, who for
our sake became poor,
Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen
