The St Vincent de Paul Society (or as it is often known – the SVP) is an international Christian voluntary organization dedicated to tackling poverty and disadvantage by providing practical assistance to those in need.
The Ascot & Brackell SVP Conference meets fortnightly alternating between St Francis Church Ascot and St Joseph’s Church Bracknell.
The SVP can be contacted on 07731 862 349, a mobile which is held by conference members on a rotational basis.
We reach out to people in the Ascot & Bracknell area who are in need of help and support and, as such, our clients are from all sorts of backgrounds and faiths and none.
We have provided one off financial support in the form of finances, furniture/white goods, clothes and/or food shopping to a number of families and individuals with a variety of needs including those with mental health and addiction issues. We have provided immigration advice for a number of clients, we have signposted clients to agencies for help and advice and accompanied them to appointments with Citizens Advice or Bracknell Forest Housing Department.
Our aim locally is to help those in our community at times of crisis as well as to reach out to the disabled, lonely, sick or housebound by visiting and befriending them on an ongoing basis. Members carry out weekly outreach visits to Care Homes in the area too.
Do you need help or do you know someone in need of help? We may be able to provide material assistance or advice or simply a listening ear.
Contact the Ascot & Bracknell SVP on their mobile 07731 862 349.
You can help by becoming a member, a Friend of the SVP or by providing financial or material help in response to appeals through the parish newsletter.
