Bishops’ Day for Life
Pro Life Information
Pope St. John Paul II started this day for celebrating the dignity of human life from conception to natural death. At risk are unborn babies, vulnerable people threatened by attempts to legalise euthanasia or assisted suicide, and human embryos destroyed in IVF and experimentation.
Our parish is starting an informal prolife group, which will keep you informed about the local house for mothers and babies run by LIFE charity, and alert you to specific needs and topics from time to time. Please leave your name and contact details as you leave , or via the church office.

Above all, and most important, please pray for unborn babies, their mothers, and women suffering after abortion, for those in danger from euthanasia, and for all who are caring for the sick and disabled.
“A great prayer for life is urgently needed, a prayer which will rise up throughout the world. Through special initiatives and in daily prayer, may an impassioned plea rise to God, the Creator and lover of life, from every Christian community, from every group and association, from every family and from the heart of every believer.” – Pope John Paul II, (Evangelium Vitae)

The Abortion Act was passed fifty years ago on October 27th 1967. Since then, about eight million unborn babies have been aborted in the U.K.
Of the 550 human beings killed by abortion in the UK every day, about 50 look like a tiny born baby, move independently, and pull away from a painful impulse.
It is better medicine, not legalised abortion, which has saved women’s lives. 98% of abortions are on the grounds of risk to the mother’s mental health, although there is much evidence that abortion harms women mentally, and often physically.
Pro-life groups are pro-woman; none judges or blames women who have abortions. They have often been misinformed or under pressure.
There is no violent activity whatsoever in the UK by pro-life activists. The violence takes place inside the abortoirs.
In the process of IVF (in vitro fertilisation) two million human beings in the earliest stage of life have been destroyed in our country.
Throughout the world, the disabled are overwhelmingly against any change in the laws against euthanasia and assisted suicide, which at present protect them. The large groups run by disabled people in Britain are all members of Care Not Killing, as is the Catholic Church in the UK.
Rather than an unintended “slippery slope”, there is an actual agenda of death, making constant attempts to introduce full-blown euthanasia by “baby footsteps”.
Places where the law has been changed all s
how enormous increases in deaths, and many abuses.
If you only see the secular media you get a very biased and incorrect view. TV and films advertise suicide and euthanasia with inaccurate emotional stories. For accurate information see www.lifecharity.org.uk, www.spuc.org.uk, [email protected] and www.carenotkilling.org.uk
For international news see www.MercatorNet.com and www.lifesitenews.com
You can get free regular e-news from all these, easy to ask for or cancel. (If you are under 18, please ask your parents’ permission before subscribing.)
There is always a better solution, even to the worst problems, than deliberately ending a human life, whether of the disabled, ill, elderly, unborn babies, or the tiniest human embryos.
